Honorees

Fred and Lena Meijer

Fred and Lena Meijer were a husband-and-wife team whose vision and generosity shaped both business and community life. Fred expanded his father’s grocery business into the nation’s first supercenter chain, while together they supported major initiatives in healthcare, education, conservation, and the arts. Their greatest legacy, the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, reflects their shared love of nature, art, and service to others.
